Soy Andrea Latas, desde muy pequeña mis principales intereses y pasiones han sido la música y la naturaleza. Por eso, he creado una metodología queune música, residuos y ambiente, para promover transformaciones sociales hacia la sostenibilidad ambiental.

En esta charla les contaré un poco sobre el camino de vida que he recorrido, en el que he descubierto cómo aportar a generar acciones sostenibles a través de las tres cosas que más me apasionan: la música, la lutería urbana (construcción de instrumentos musicales con residuos y objetos en desuso) y el cuidado del ambiente.

En un primer momento, les hablaré sobre las cifras de generación de residuos en Bogotá, Colombia y el mundo; cifras que entristecen y generan sentimientos de decepción, pero que a la vez es necesario conocer, porque partir de ellas iniciaremos una reflexión importante respecto a las acciones sostenibles y reales que podemos emprender para impactar positivamente el planeta.

A través de mi experiencia personal, ilustraré el movimiento Zero Waste, del cual soy vocera. ¿Qué es? ¿En qué consiste? Les contaré cómo las 3R que conocemos comúnmente, las he convertido en 7R, una filosofía y práctica de vida sencilla de entender e interesante de aplicar para disminuir nuestro consumo yendo paso a paso. Adoptarla es contar con una brújula, una guía que nos da los elementos cotidianos para tomar decisiones acertadas frente a nuestro consumo. Les presentaré diferentes alternativas de consumo y les compartiré la propuesta de emprendimientos colombianos que trabajan en la promoción de una vida residuo cero, desde ámbitos tan diversos como la moda o la construcción.

Compartiré con ustedes mi experiencia de transformación social y personal, a través del arte y en especial de la música y la lutería urbana, para llevar un mensaje de consumo responsable y sostenibilidad ambiental a diversos lugares de lo que llamo la “Colombia profunda”. He compartido con comunidades en selvas, llanos, desiertos y ciudades de Colombia, contribuyendo a transformar imaginarios acerca del reciclaje, los residuos y nuestra relación con el ambiente. He aprendido también de la experiencia de mujeres, hombres, jóvenes y niños que día a día transforman sus entornos a partir de pequeñas o grandes acciones ambientales en sus comunidades, barrios, colegios, empresas.

Finalmente, les mostraré a Latin Latas, el proyecto musical que nació como una forma de explorar desde el arte, respuestas a tantos interrogantes sobre residuos y ambiente; y que se ha consolidado como un canal de comunicación, un espacio de creación, innovación, arte y pedagogía para aprender y enseñar sobre ambiente y transformación social a través de la metodología “Zero Waste Lab”.

 

I am Andrea Latas, from a very young age my main interests and passions have been music and nature. For this reason, I have created a methodology that unites music, waste and the environment, to promote social transformations towards environmental sustainability.

In this talk I will tell you a little about the path of life that I have traveled, in which I have discovered how to contribute to generating sustainable actions through the three things that I am most passionate about: music, urban luthery (construction of musical instruments with waste and disused objects) and caring for the environment.

At first, I will talk to you about the figures for waste generation in Bogotá, Colombia and the world; Figures that sadden and generate feelings of disappointment, but that at the same time it is necessary to know, because from them we will initiate an important reflection on the sustainable and real actions that we can undertake to positively impact the planet.

Through my personal experience, I will illustrate the Zero Waste movement, for which I am a spokesperson. What is it? What does it consist of? I will tell you how the 3Rs that we commonly know, I have turned them into 7Rs, a philosophy and practice of life that is simple to understand and interesting to apply to reduce our consumption by going step by step. Adopting it is having a compass, a guide that gives us the daily elements to make the right decisions regarding our consumption. I will present different consumption alternatives and I will share with you the proposal of Colombian enterprises that work to promote a zero waste life, from fields as diverse as fashion or construction.

I will share with you my experience of social and personal transformation, through art and especially music and urban luthery, to bring a message of responsible consumption and environmental sustainability to various places in what I call the “deep Colombia”. I have shared with communities in the jungles, plains, deserts and cities of Colombia, contributing to transform imaginary about recycling, waste and our relationship with the environment. I have also learned from the experience of women, men, young people and children who every day transform their environments from small or large environmental actions in their communities, neighborhoods, schools, companies.

Finally, I will show Latin Latas, the musical project that was born as a way of exploring from art, answers to so many questions about waste and the environment; and that it has established itself as a communication channel, a space for creation, innovation, art and pedagogy to learn and teach about the environment and social transformation through the “Zero Waste Lab” methodology.
